The 4Matrix SIMS Integrator Tool​

The 4Matrix SIMS Integration Tool allows your school to extract data directly from SIMS MIS into 4Matrix Cloud. It consists of 3 components, all of which are installed using a single MSI:

  1. 4Matrix SIMS Host Service
    • An always-running Windows Service that communicates securely with integration.4MatrixCloud.com.
  2. 4Matrix SIMS Integration Service
    • An on-demand Windows Service that integrates with the SIMS Dll files from the local PC to login and extract data from SIMS. This service is controlled by the Host Service.
  3. Management UI
    • A simple Windows application used to configure the two services listed above.

Prerequisites​

  1. SIMS Third Party Connecter (TPC): The SIMS TPC is typically installed on a local or virtual PC/Server in school that also has the SIMS Workstation Application installed. The TPC provides secure access to your remotely hosted SIMS database and document store via a private VPN connection. If a school does not have a SIMS TPC installed, they should contact their local support unit or SIMS support for assistance.
  2. .NET 9.0 Desktop Runtime: Our application uses the same .NET framework as SIMS to ensure compatibility and to support modern security protocols when communicating with our services. Download .NET 9.0 Desktop Runtime

Installing the 4Matrix SIMS Integration Tool​

  1. Complete the signup form

    • Go to the 4Matrix SIMS Integration Signup form
    • You will need your 4Matrix Cloud account number. This can be found in 4Matrix Cloud under Admin > Manage. The account number starts with an S. If you're not sure, please contact us to check.

  2. Wait for approval email

    • Once the form has been submitted, we will usually approve the signup within 24-48 hours.
    • The email address provided will then receive:
      • A download link for the SIMS Integrator Tool
      • An activation code

  3. Installing the SIMS Integration Tool

Hosted SIMS
  • The tool must be installed on the server where SIMS is installed.
  • This is the same server where Wonde is installed and the all-important SIMS Third-Party Connection Tool.
On-Prem SIMS
  • The tool must be installed on a client where SIMS is installed.
  • We recommended the same client/server where Wonde is installed as this machine is likely always left on.
  1. Complete initial setup
    • When prompted by the SIMS Integration Tool, please enter:
      • The activation code from the email
      • A SIMS administrator username and password. These credentials will be used to run the SIMS extract within 4Matrix Cloud. Note: We recommend creating a dedicated SIMS user account for this purpose, with the permissions listed below.
If the Configuration setting shows 'Error' and 'Status: Activation Required!'...

This is most likely caused by your proxy server blocking the connection - please whitelist https://integration.4matrixcloud.com

  1. Confirm completion
    • Please let us know once all the above steps have been completed via a support ticket

Permissions​

Ensure the SIMS user is assigned the following permission groups:

  • Third Party Reporter
  • School Administrator
  • Personnel Officer
  • Curricular Manager
  • Timetabler
  • Exams Officer

You may also need to ensure that https://integration.4matrixcloud.com is whitelisted.
